"I know how you feel"

I never thought the five words "I know how you feel" would sound so sweet. Bodhi has been having some sleep issues over the past couple of weeks and the past couple of nights have been the most challenging with wake ups almost every hour! I called Karen to talk it out and I can't even tell you how good it feels just to talk to someone who knows exactly what you're going through. All the areas still remain gray and no one can give you a definitive answer to anything (welcome to parenthood!) but just hearing those words "I know how you feel" makes it all just a little bit easier. At our song circle yesterday, I walked in and looked into the tired, puffy eyes of 10 other women with babies around Bodhi's age and knew that I wasn't alone!

It's funny how in the middle of the night you feel like you'll never get through it and that you are the only one who is having trouble coping, but when you wake up in the morning and see that beautiful smile you know it's all worth it and it's all so wonderful. Our days are so full of laughter and wonder that a difficult night seems so trivial in the morning. My morning brain realizes that all those little moments together in the night are stolen moments with my sweet boy that I know I'll miss as he gets older.
