Big week!

This has been a very big week for Bodhi. I think he knows that he's turning one next week (yikes!) and he's trying to get it all in so he can say "oh, I did that before I turned one". Cheeky boy. The biggest milestone is that Bodhi has now slept through the night 4 nights straight (I'm saying this with my fingers crossed!). It started because Dan and I made the decision that I would stop nursing him in the night. Since all I am to him is a giant carton of milk when he sees me in the night, this meant that Dan would have to get up with him in the night and help him back to sleep. We blew up the air mattress and Dan camped out on Bodhi's floor for two weeks. The first few nights were difficult on all of us. Bodhi was completely beside himself and was really upset, Dan was completely sleep-deprived and having to get up for work, and I was sitting in another room unable to help either of them. Thankfully this only lasted a few nights and for the next week of so, Bodhi was still waking up once or twice but was happy to see his Dada and would easily drift back off to sleep. And then it happened. He slept through the entire night for the first time in six or seven months. And then he did it again. And again. And again. I can actually see a real difference in Bodhi too. He's more alert throughout the day, he's following a more exact sleep schedule and he's more than happy to easily conk out at the end of the day (as are we!).

The next milestone is that Bodhi is now all about finger foods. We've been struggling to get him to eat finger foods for the past couple of months and I was starting to really stress about it. When really what I should have been doing is following my own advice (to let things happen organically in their own time), and I should have been remembering my son's personality! This is who he is! Just like when we first introduced purees, or when I tried to get him to drink from a sippy cup - he wouldn't do it and wouldn't do it and then one day, he was all over it. Tonight for dinner, Bodhi fed himself his whole dinner for the first time. It took about an hour and a half, but he did it nonetheless! So tonight Bodhi ate chunks of broccoli, mango, brown rice macaroni and quinoa bread with bean spread. Quite a gourmet!
