A day in the life...

Is it possible to inherit the organization gene? Bodhi is definitely a creature of habit. I mean, I know that they say that children (especially babies) love routine, but I'm sure that Bodhi has a little Howard Hughes in him. Our routine has to be followed perfectly or look out! So here's a little glimpse into our day....

7am: Wake up and nurse
7:30am: Independent time while I make and eat my breakfast
8am - 10am: Nurse - nap - nurse - nap - nurse - nap....
10am - 11am/12pm: Walk - Bloor West Village, Roncesvalles, High Park, Grocery Store etc....
12pm: Nurse and nap
12:30pm: I make and eat my lunch
1pm: Tummy time and storytime
1:30pm: Cuddle on the couch
2:30pm: Bodhi goes down for his big nap of the day
2:30pm - 5pm: This is where I should say that I spend this time cooking and cleaning - but let's be honest, I can't get enough of him and I actually spend this time cuddling with Bodhi and napping myself.
5pm: Nurse
6pm: Dan gets home and has Daddy time while I get dinner ready
6:30pm: Dan and I eat dinner in shifts - usually with Bodhi nursing and Dan feeding me my dinner
7pm - 9pm: Fussy time! We bounce, cuddle, nurse, play, rock - whatever it takes!
9pm: The bedtime routine begins - the first big nurse to get him through the night
9:30pm: Bath, naked time for a while, p.j.s
10pm: Last big nurse for the night
10:30pm: Bedtime!
He's then up at about 3:30am to nurse and then happily back to sleep (both of us!).

It's amazing how sticking to this routine makes for a perfectly content boy.

On Sunday we had a very exciting day - it was Vesak at the Zen Centre (Buddha's birthday celebration) and they have a beautiful ceremony, a puppet show, a drumming performance, storytelling and a huge potluck lunch. It was so meaningful to Dan and I to get to take Bodhi to his first Vesak - and just like the baby Bodhi that he is, he was perfectly calm and happy the whole time. This will become one of the most important traditions in our family's future and it's really neat to do it for the first time and feel the tradition taking shape.

Happy Birthday Buddha!
