Bodhi and I went on an amazing adventure this weekend to visit Uncle Brandon, Aunt Vanessa and Lucy in Winnipeg (along with a special guest appearance by Grandma!). The first leg of our adventure was to hop aboard an airplane for Bodhi's first in-air experience. Why I ever worry about these things I will never know, but I worried long and hard about flying alone with Bodhi for the first time and how the whole experience would be. Would you believe he slept the whole way???? He played himself out at the gate while we waited to board then settled onto my lap as we took off. He woke up to the Captain telling us we were about to land. Amazing! Needless to say, the flight there was relatively uneventful. The excitement began as we met Uncle Brandon in the Winnipeg airport. Bran hadn't seen Bodhi since he was 3 months so there have been some big changes! "Big" being the operative word! We quickly zoomed off to see Aunt Vanessa and Lucy and what a special reunion it was! Lucy and Bodhi make a great team! Lucy is so sweet and kind with Bodhi giving him tonnes of kisses and translating all of his noises and grunts for us - "Bodhi says that he would like to play with this toy", "Bodhi says he would like to read a book" - it's a special talent she has!
Visits with Bran, Vanessa and Lucy are always so special - not only because we're always missing them so much, but because they are such wonderful people. I always feel like I just saw them yesterday. They're so easy to be around and fun to spend time with. They are supportive, comfortable, thoughtful and a wealth of knowledge and advice for me - on parenting, career moves and life in general. We all consider ourselves so lucky to have them in our lives and even luckier to get to spend precious moments with them. Lucy is such a special girl with amazing gifts and talents and we treasure every second that we get with her.
It is always sad for me to say goodbye to them and I felt very teary as Bodhi and I checked in for our flight home - but I know that next time we see them it will be the same - just like we saw them yesterday!
