For his birthday, Andrea gave Dan a really cool book of the top 100 unusual things to see in Ontario. So yesterday morning we got out the book and found an adventure to go on! We ended up deciding on a visit to Belfountain Conservation Area near Erin, Ontario. We packed a picnic and headed out on the road. We weren't really sure what to expect but when we got there we couldn't believe our luck. It was beautiful! The place was virtually deserted (2pm on a Monday!) and it was an incredibly beautiful sunny day. We walked down to the river and put our blanket down under a tree right on the edge of the water. It was actually completely breathtaking. After some minor mishaps (water spilled on pants, diaper coming off, pee on picnic blanket etc...) we settled in for a nice family picnic on the river. After lunch we took a hike around the pond and across the suspension bridge (scary!). After a little more touring about we got in the car and decided to head for home.
It was an amazingly wonderful spontaneous day - the best kind!
