Entering the no sleep zone

Like any kid, Bodhi goes through these "phases" where everything seems to change and be turned on its head - sleep patterns, food preferences, favourite activities, etc... And just when you get it all figured out - a new phase rears its ugly (well, actually, very cute) head. The past couple of weeks have been a real adjustment for Bodhi and we're just getting started. When I look back on what he's put up with, I'm surprised he's holding up this well! It started with a 4 hour car trip (each way!) to Oliphant to visit friends for the day. Followed by a 4 hour car trip to the cottage the next day, 3 nights sleeping in a strange place, another 4 hour car trip home, 2 nights in his own bed, a 3 hour car trip to Kingston, 3 nights sleeping in a strange place, a 3 hour car trip to Toronto, 2 nights sleeping in his own bed, a 3 hour car trip to Kingston - you get the picture. Is your head spinning yet? He's held up like a champ and is his usual wonderful, happy self - during the day. The repurcussions of what we're subjecting him to have come in the way of NO SLEEP! Well, I exaggerate. He's napping like a king and going to bed fairly easily - it's the staying in bed and sleeping through part that he just isn't in to these days. The past couple of nights have been shockers! Up 2 hours in the night on Sunday night and 3 hours last night. Poor Dan has taken to sleepily dragging himself to the couch while I will Bodhi to go back to sleep.

Of course, whenever a new phase takes hold, I'm constantly trying to get to the bottom of it, theorize and come up with solutions. The latest theory I'm going on is HOT HOT HEAT! The past couple of nights have been so steamy that I've been finding it hard to sleep myself. Dan brought in a big fan to our room this morning so hopefully tonight will go a bit better with the cool air. We'll see if the theory holds or if its proven wrong again by a 1 year old!

Poor Dan? I think poor Mary-Kate. Hope there is some sleep in your near future. Thinking of you all.

Too true! But at least he's been napping well so I've been able to sneak a couple of daytime zzzzs! Hope all is well at the cottage and you guys aren't getting too much rain!

MK, I totally hear what you are saying!! I remember always trying to explain and find reasons for everything, and sometimes that made me crazier than the no sleep!! Sending lots of love and hopes for REM your way.
