Rounding third and sliding into home

Here we are in Kingston! Today is our third day here and so far so good! We're staying at Brett and Karen's and have settled in really easily into their wonderful spot. We feel so fortunate to have a place to stay this month while Dan starts work - especially a place that's already kiddie-friendly and FULL of fun new toys! They have a huge backyard with a slide, a playhouse and a sandbox, as well as a garage full of ride-on toys and a blow up pool! (Don't tell them, but I don't think we're ever going to leave!). Dan started work yesterday and although he found it hard to be away from Bodhi again, all seemed to go well. The next couple of days for him will be long as its mostly orientation material he has to get through, but next week he gets thrown in and I'm sure he will feel comfortable there in no time. One of the many things that I admire about Dan is his confidence and ability to jump in with both feet. He's started a couple of new jobs in the past few years and is always employee of the month within days of being there. I know he will be just as successful at this job - they won't know what him 'em!

While Dan has been off at work, Bodhi and I have been exploring! We've explored ALL the new toys in the house many times, we've explored the backyard and played endlessly in the driveway with the "lawn mower" (a new favourite) and the new soccer net that Dan set up for him. We've explored downtown Kingston and taken walks around our new neighbourhood and we've had lots of time to visit with Grandma. If the weather still stays nice today, we're going to head down to the harbour to feed the ducks!

I'm already feeling like this move is a really good decision. There were moments throughout the past couple of months where I've stopped and thought "what the heck are we doing???". When the great unknown is ahead of you, it's hard to feel confident in any decision that you make. Being here and starting to feel stablility and knowing that it's all going to work out just fine is making life a little less stressful for us. I'm basking in the "slow down" feeling that you get the minute you drive out of Toronto's city limits. We have time to get up in the morning and have a nice breakfast together, time to go the park when Dan gets home from work, and time for Dan and I to spend a little time catching up at the end of the day. As the great philosopher Little Orphan Annie once sang "I think I'm gonna like it here!".
