Chriscroft weekend!

This weekend we spent four fun-filled days at the cottage! It was the August 1st weekend and just like every year before it, we all piled into the cottage and spent the weekend together. We arrived Thursday afternoon and were greeted at the marina by Uncle Brandon, Cousin Lucy and Morgan! There were a lot of hugs to get in to make up for lost time (we hadn't seen Bran and Lucy since February and Morgan since December!). We zoomed off to the cottage and were greeted again by Grandpa, Rheanne, Quinn and Great-Grandma. As always, Grandpa was hard at work on the dock and Morgan, Quinn and Lucy were up for a visit to the beach and a swim. We settled in nicely and spent the next few days playing on the verandah, shoveling at the beach, watching the big kids swim, playing Frustration and enjoying the new creature comforts at the cottage (satellite TV and wireless internet!!!). Bodhi got right into the playtime and followed the big kids everywhere they went, flopping himself down in the middle of their little circle and slowly making his way from one end of the verandah to the other as they raced back and forth past him. They were all so sweet and gentle with him - sharing their toys, holding his hand, and covering him in a million hugs and kisses. We had a really great visit with everyone and although the weekend ended in a fever of 103 for Bodhi, we still were so sad to leave. It's always hard to leave these guys who all mean so much to us and who we know will soon be far away from us again as they all return to their homes.

Bodhi is so lucky to have so many people who love and care for him so much. I am so grateful that he will grow up with such doting little friends, uncles, aunts, grandparents etc... He is so loved at every turn which makes it easy for him to feel so comfortable around new (and old!) people. I've always loved going to the cottage and now I'm glad that Bodhi gets to look forward to it every summer.

After saying goodbye last night (and some tears in the car on the way home - mine, not Bodhi's!), we drove home and fell easily into our own beds. Tomorrow we head off to Kingston to begin the next phase of our summer adventure - new job, new city, and more family. It just keeps getting better and better!
