Home sweet home

After a VERY trying couple of days moving (that's right, a couple of days - the whole move took 17 hours!), we are finally settled into our new little home. Well, as settled as we can be with towers of boxes looming over us and pieces of furniture turned on their heads surrounding us. We've had a couple of days to unpack bits and pieces and most of the furniture is put in place, but it is definitely slow going with a toddler around. Today I set up Bodhi's play area with all of his toys and books and you could see the sparkle in his eye! He has been an absolute trooper through all of this - spending hours upon end in the car between Kingston and Toronto, living in three different homes in one month and spending day in and day out surrounded by boxes. He's made a game of finding little paths through all of the mess and has found a very fun new game of chasing mommy around the kitchen island. I'm grateful for the long weekend this weekend to give us a chance to really get it all squared away. We're hosting our first Sunday night dinner this weekend so that gives us a goal!

I was telling my mom today that it is so strange living in a house rather than a one floor apartment. I've lived on one floor my whole adult life - ever since the day I moved out of my parent's home. I'm constantly finding myself needing something from upstairs (and then of course forgetting what the was by the time I get up there). I'm going to need to come up with some sort of system to limit the amount of stair trips a day - although it is good exercise!

Dan has now settled in well at his job and seems to be really enjoying it which is a great relief. The house looks amazing and is coming together which is another great relief. Bodhi is happy and energetic and as full of joy as always - again, a great relief. Things really do seem to be working out well. Maybe this move wasn't such a bad idea after all!
