Walmsely weekend

This weekend we took a road trip to Cambridge to visit family and celebrate Grandma and Poppa's 50th wedding anniversary. We packed up at bedtime on Friday night and after a long drive, arrived at about 11pm at Aunt Andrea and Uncle John's. On Saturday we spent the day lounging and visiting and even ducked out the mall to get Bodhi some new slippers. Later in the day, Dan, Bodhi and I drove the 20 minutes over to Waterloo and had a quick but really nice visit with Peter, Farida, Ethan and Gavin. Bodhi enjoyed a gooey slice of pizza and played endlessly with all of the toys the boys could bring him (a favourite was their electronic keyboard on which Bodhi - unfortunately - quickly found the volume knob). We headed back to Cambridge and after putting Bodhi to bed, played a rousing game of Apples to Apples. A great day all around.

Sunday we headed out for a nice breakfast. It was so nice to be able to just order off the kid's menu for Bodhi and not to have to worry about what was in the food - he had a huge mountain of fruit and a slice of french toast. That afternoon, John took me out on his Harley - so fun and so scary all at once! I can definitely see how motorcycles can become an addiction - it was actually really exhilirating - I would go again and again (and I will!). That night was Grandma and Poppa's party at the Blackforest Inn - a huge German buffet with a dance floor and polka music - so fun! Bodhi had the absolute time of his life! Because we were leaving for Kingston straight from the restaurant, I put Bodhi's pyjamas on him part way through dinner. I will never forget the little man shaking and grooving in the middle of the dance floor in his little red sleeper - it was one of the sweetest things I've seen him do to date. He was in heaven! We had a great visit with family and got to catch up with Uncle Mel and Aunt Pat which was really nice. It was an uneventful drive back to Kingston with Bodhi and I snoring away.

Today we're back to the grind - Dan was back and work and Bodhi and I spen the day playing and getting the house back in order (almost). Tomorrow Bodhi and I start our new "job" - which really means that we get to play with Clara every morning and truck our Soph to and from school each day. We are so so so lucky to have such a big wonderful close family - in Kingston, Cambridge, Winnipeg, Bermuda, St. Catharine's - wherever they are! We are lucky lucky folks!
